ESL PROGRAM
English as a Second Language Program
The ESL Department at Cypress College offers credit courses for non-native speakers of English. There are seven levels of multi-skill core classes which focus on developing reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Also, there are elective courses which focus on specific areas of language development, such as grammar, vocabulary, spoken English, and pronunciation. In addition to having the opportunity to better understand US culture, students will also develop skills in taking exams, reading college-level material, writing essays, and participating in discussions in a college classroom. Lab assignments, which are required for all courses, further build language skills.
