Renee Ssensalo came to Cypress College in 2000 as a counselor in the Fine Arts Division. Prior to her appointment at Cypress, she was a counselor at several community colleges: Long Beach City, Cerritos and Los Angeles Southwest, where she counseled in the areas of transfer, disabled student services, career, student life and development and general counseling. She has also taught classes in the Department of Black Studies at California State University, Long Beach and held an internship at Chapman University. Renee has coordinated the Upward Bound Math and Science program at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science.
Renee has a B.A degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Black Studies, followed by a M.S in Counseling with a concentration in student development in higher education both from California State University, Long Beach.
Renee joined the Cypress College Black Studies Learning community in 2001 as a Counselor/Instructor. Renee enjoys working with students, shopping, traveling and spending time with her family.
