HOW DO I ... ?

How Do I ...Find Literary Criticism?

Looking for literary criticism? Background information about an author and his/her influences on their writing style? An analysis of a poem or short story?

It sounds like you need to find resources for literary criticisms. There are several sources in the library to help you with your research.

The reference collection contains several series specifically about literature and authors. Some of the series you may want to consult could include Contemporary Literary Criticism (CLC), Contemporary Authors (CA), Twentieth-Century Literary Criticism (TCLC), and Short Story Criticism (SSC), but you should consult with the reference librarian to help you identify which sources would be best for your specific author and/or work.

The library also offers access to an electronic database called the Literature Resource Center. The Literature Resource Center contains some of what is available in the reference collection, as well as some additional information. For off campus access, log in with your student ID number.

For further assistance or explanation, see a reference librarian.
