Chargers Win Santa Barbara Consolation Championship

Santa Barbara, Calif. – The Chargers put it all together for their second straight win and the Santa Barbara Tournament consolation championship. The Chargers dominated at the beginning and kept the momentum defeating Grossmont 66-53. Freshman guard Clinton Williams led Cypress in scoring with 15 points, 4 steals, and 5 rebounds.

Cypress took charger early with a 34-28 lead at the half. Cypress pressed on taking as much as a 16 point lead with three minutes left before eventually winning by 13. Freshman center Rodrigo Carbajal held the Griffins’ leading scorer to just 6 points while scoring 12 points of his own while dishing out 4 assists. Freshmen Khalif Boyd and Kourtney Maxim scored 10 points a piece while combining for 15 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 assists.

The Chargers head back home for four days off before heading to L.A. Harbor. Harbor is 2-10 coming off of a 62-48 loss to Cerritos. The teams face off at L.A. Harbor Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
