Cypress Moves on To Tournament Championship

San Diego, Calif. – The Chargers faced the host Olympians Friday hoping to collect their second win in a row and a pass into the San Diego Mesa Tournament Championship game. Cypress succeeded with a 63-56 win over Mesa and head into the championship game tomorrow. Freshman guard Khalif Boyd came off the bench to go 7 for 8 from the field for a game high 18 points and 4 rebounds.
Mesa came out firing with 28 total three-pointers on the night but could only connect with 8. Cypress was able to jump out early with a slim five point lead at half 34-29. Cypress was able to hold on and extend the lead by two in the second half to end the game with the seven point victory.
Freshman guard Clinton Williams was the second Charger in double digits with 10 points and six rebounds. Freshman guard Eric Butler was close to a double-double with 11 rebounds and 8 points. Freshmen guards Orlando Isais and Ted Wolf combined for 17 points.
Cypress moves on to the San Diego Mesa Tournament Championship tomorrow against Orange Empire opponent Santa Ana in a conference preview. Santa Ana is 15-3 on an eight game win streak coming off of a 95-81 blowout of West Hills. The Dons are ranked fifth in Southern California. The teams face off Saturday at 6:00 pm at San Diego Mesa.
