Fullerton, Calif. – Cypress started their last week of conference play Wednesday heading to rival Fullerton in the hopes for an upset. The Chargers fell prey to the Hornet defense committing twenty turnovers in a 90-66 loss to Fullerton. Sophomore guard Khalif Boyd led Cypress with 15 points.

The Charger height was also an issue as the Hornets outscored Cypress 44-18 in the paint. Cypress never had the lead with the Hornets jumping out from the tip-off up 47-32 at half. Cypress started the second half with a seven point run but was short lived unable to put a dent in the Fullerton lead. Sophomore guard Eric Butler followed Boyd with 13 points.

Cypress falls to 13-17 and 4-7 in conference. Saddleback also lost Wednesday night letting Cypress keep their one game lead ahead of the Gauchos in conference in fourth. Cypress has one more chance to solidify fourth and make a case for playoffs Friday. The Chargers must get past third place Riverside. The last tie they met, Riverside won 82-60. They meet up again Friday at 7:30 pm at Riverside.
