Riverside, Calif. – Cypress finished their season Friday heading to Riverside to face the Tigers for the second time this season. Cypress was unable to get ahead against Riverside falling 100-57 in their final game of the season. Freshman forward Devon McDonald paced Cypress with a near double-double with ten points and eight rebounds.
Sophomore guard Khalif Boyd came into the game with a career total of 127 steals needing just three more to break the Charger career record for steals. Boyd finished with four to bring his total to 131 breaking the record in his final game as a Charger. The Chargers were able to gain their only lead after a minute of play 4-2 off a jumper by Boyd. It was downhill from there as Riverside quickly took control taking a double digit lead in the first half and going into halftime with a 50-32 lead. The Tigers kept up their scoring pace while Cypress’s pace slowed for the eventual 43 point loss.
Boyd finished as the Charger leader with a team high 21 points while freshman guard Sean Starkey had ten points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Eric Butler and freshman guard DuWayne King combined for 13 points, ten rebounds, and five assists.
Cypress finishes their season 13-18 and 4-8 in conference tied for fourth.
