Glendale, Calif. – Cypress looked unstoppable in the first half hour scoring six points before Glendale could answer and held on for the 6-4 win. The Chargers used all 27 players on the roster in the win holding the Vaqueros winless. Freshman forward Christian Ortiz scored three goals and added an assist for the hat trick.

The Chargers were on fire early scoring all six goals in the first 32 minutes of the game. Ortiz’s goals were padded by goals from freshman forward Jay Kinnear, freshman midfielder Enrique Montes, and freshman midfielder Marco Vargas. Julio Reynoso and Rudy Tapia chipped in with assists. After Cypress took the 6-0 lead, Glendale began to threaten, first with a penalty kick and then three more goals after wholesale substitutions. Cypress held on though limiting Glendale to four goals, enough for the win. Freshman Keeper Giovanni Guzman picked up six saves.

Cypress improves to 3-2-2 and stays on the road Thursday to face Chaffey. Chaffey is 1-6-1 and coming off of a 0-2 loss to El Camino. Cypress heads to Chaffey Thursday at 4:00 pm.
