Palm Desert, Calif. – The Chargers headed to the College of the Desert Friday for what looked like a scoring drought until late in the game when three goals were scored in a hurry leaving the Chargers with a 1-2 loss. Freshman goalie Giovanni Guzman grabbed a season high twelve saves to prevent a larger deficit.

Desert struck first scoring finally in the 73rd minute taking the 1-0 lead. Cypress fought back quickly just two minutes later as freshman forward Pedro Ochoa scored to even the score. The battle continued and Desert waited until the 85th minute to punch one in from a corner kick taking the 2-1 lead. Cypress put on the pressure but could not convert in the last five minutes taking the loss.

Cypress falls to 4-3-2 ending their preseason. The Chargers move on to conference play Tuesday when they host Irvine Valley. IVC is 4-2-1 and coming off of a 1-3 loss to Rio Hondo. The teams face off Tuesday at 3:00 pm at Cypress.
