Orange, Calif. – Cypress headed to Orange Coast Tuesday and scored just one goal against the Pirates which was enough to earn the win. After a tie and a loss, Cypress was still winless in conference coming into Tuesday’s game against Orange Coast College. The Chargers were able to turn it all around with just one goal. Sophomore midfielder Marvin Gordon contributed the assist on the goal to win the game.
Cypress started the action early in the 18th minute by freshman forward Pedro Ochoa from Gordon. From there, all Cypress had to do was hold the defensive line while freshman keeper Giovanni Guzman pulled down five saves to maintain the shutout.
The Chargers improved their record to 5-4-3 and 1-1-1 in conference. They head home to take on Golden West Friday. Golden West is 7-2-2 and 2-0-1 in conference coming off of a 3-0 win over Santiago Canyon. The two face off Friday at 3:00 pm at Cypress.
