Chargers Suffer a Narrow Loss at Riverside

Riverside, Calif. – The Chargers made the long drive to Riverside and came home with a squeaker of a loss to the Tigers 2-3. Cypress scored first but fell behind late falling to 2-2-1 in conference. Freshman forward Jay Kinnear scored the second goal in a comeback effort for the Chargers, his fifth goal this season.
The Chargers struck first in the first half with a goal from Kinnear with an assist from freshman midfielder Julio Reynoso. The Tigers came back with a goal ten minutes later to tie the game at one to finish the half. Riverside picked up their offense in the second half with two straight goals taking the 3-1 lead. Cypress made a comeback charge with freshman forward Pedro Ochoa’s goal from freshman defender Fred Vasquez. The comeback was cut short and Cypress finished a goal down for the loss.
The Chargers come back home Friday to take on Fullerton. The Hornets are 6-5-1 and 1-3-1 in conference. The teams face off Friday at 3:00 pm.
