Pasadena, Calif. – The Chargers stayed on the road Friday facing Pasadena and looking for their first win. After falling behind early, Cypress charged back for a tie early in the second but allowed three more Lancer goals to slip through to lose 4-1. Freshman forward Jorge Munoz scored Cypress’s only goal for his first collegiate goal.
What looked like a back and forth game went Pasadena’s way quickly. Pasadena scored first midway through the first half taking the early lead. After halftime, Cypress shot right back with Munoz’s goal with an assist from sophomore midfielder Julio Reynoso to even up the score. Unfortunately for the Chargers, their scoring would end there. Pasadena took the lead in the 63rd minute and then added another just five minutes later. The Lancers piled another one on in the 83rd minute for the eventual final score of 4-1. Sophomore keeper Giovanni Guzman recorded six saves for Cypress while playing the entire game.
Cypress will return home Tuesday in search of their first win facing College of the Desert. Desert is also winless at 0-2 this season coming off of a 7-1 loss to Santa Ana. The teams will face off Tuesday at Cypress at 4:00 pm.
