Cypress, Calif. – The Chargers made it a thriller Tuesday afternoon making the crowd wait till the last five minutes to score their only goal on the day to save themselves from a loss. After giving up a goal to Glendale early, Cypress was able to drum up the tying score at the end of the game to end it at a 1-1 tie. Freshman forward Alfredo Lenon scored Cypress’s sole goal, his first of the year.

Glendale caught Cypress sleeping early chipping in an easy goal in just the first minute of the game. From there, the Chargers took over dominating possession time and keeping the ball on Glendale’s half of the field. Despite many close calls and challenges to the Vaqueros’ goalie, the Chargers could not seem to put one in the back of the net. As the clock wound down, the Chargers sense of urgency increased making a flurry of attacks at the Glendale goal. One of those attacks would finally convert as Lenon scored in the 87th minute with an assist from sophomore midfielder Julio Reynoso to tie it up at one where the game would end. Sophomore goalie Giovanni Guzman played the entire game making four saves on the day.

Cypress has just one day off to prepare to host West Hills. The Golden Eagles are 3-6 and coming off of a 1-0 loss to West Valley. The Chargers will host West Hills Thursday at 4:00 pm in their last game before Orange Empire Conference play.
