Costa Mesa, Calif. – Cypress traveled to Orange Coast Tuesday to face the Pirates for the first time this season hoping to earn their first conference win of the season. Cypress started on the right foot with the first goal but let two straight OCC goals by to lose 2-1. Freshman midfielder Gerardo Garcia scored Cypress’s only goal.

The teams battled towards a scoreless first half. The score changed shortly as Cypress scored just six minutes into the second half as Garcia picked up a misplayed OCC ball outside the box and shot it from twenty yards out for the goal and the lead. Coast quickly knotted it up with their first goal two minutes later. The Pirates took over from there attacking the Cypress goal and sneaking another one through with just two minutes left to spare in the game stealing the tie away from Cypress. Sophomore keeper Giovanni Guzman finished with ten saves on the day playing all 90 minutes.

Cypress falls to 0-3-2 in conference and 3-7-3 overall. The Chargers have a couple days off before going on the road to take on Riverside. The teams will meet up at Riverside on Friday at 3:00 pm.
