Chargers Overpowered on the Road

Riverside, Calif. – The Chargers battled Friday afternoon traffic to get to Riverside and were not rewarded suffering their fourth conference loss. Cypress allowed four opposing goal and could only score one of their own in the 4-1 loss. Sophomore midfielder Andres Valencia scored Cypress’s only goal.

Cypress suffered a tough first half down 2-0 to end the half. The Chargers could only manage the one goal from Valencia with an assist from freshman forward Alfredo Lenon. Sophomore goalie Giovanni Guzman and freshman Carlos Gutierrez split time in the goal allowing two goals each and making four saves each.

The Chargers fall to 3-8-3 and 0-4-2 in conference. They return home Tuesday to face Irvine Valley. IVC is 2-2-2 in conference coming off of a 3-1 loss to Santa Ana. The two will meet up on Tuesday at Cypress at 4:00 pm.
