Cypress Breaks Scoring Slump But Loses to Hornets

Cypress, Calif. – Cypress found themselves in a scoring slump after two straight shutout losses to open conference. The Chargers gave up five goals but were able to finally score in a 5-1 loss to Fullerton. Freshman forward Nebiyu Girma scored Cypress’s only goal.
Fullerton came out quick scoring four goals in the first half. They scored one more four minutes into the second half for their fifth and final goal. Girma was able to put Cypress’s goal in with just four minutes left in the game. The Hornets had several more opportunities to score including some one-on-one opportunities but freshman keeper James Tucker made some clutch saves to prevent more goals. He finished the day with four saves.
Cypress falls to 0-9-2 and 0-3 in conference. They have a few days off before heading on the road to take on Riverside. The two meet up Friday at 4:00 pm at Riverside.
