Coach Sarfaraz brings a long history and range of coaching experience to Cypress. He returns as the head coach after a couple years of assisting in 2003 and 2004. Sarfaraz played at Chapman and Vanguard earning all-league honors. He began his head coaching career in 1978 at Division III Whittier College where he reached the NCAA regionals. After a couple seasons there, he moved on to Division I Cleveland State winning a SCIAC title and reaching the NCAA regionals. He then moved on to high school coaching where he spent a decade at local Artesia High School winning seven league championships and reaching the CIF quarterfinals. He then moved on to be the co-head coach at USC in its inaugural year before coming to Cypress as an assistant. Since beginning his coaching career, Sarfaraz has earned numerous league, district, and regional coach of the year awards.

Since 1984, Sarfaraz has been a math teacher at Artesia High School and has been teaching classes at Cypress College in the evenings. He has been highly involved in refereeing as the California State Director of Referees and instructing referees. His administrative efforts have been recognized by the U.S. Soccer Federation and FIFA.
